Sustainability Committment

At Act Sustainably, we have a very clear mission – “To Inspire the World to Act Sustainably”.

Our Sustainability commitments include;

  • Maintain Carbon Neutral and Carbon Negative status, which were achieved in May 2021
  • Zero waste to landfill
  • Zero pollution to land and water
  • Reduce emissions intensity (per £ revenue) from our business travel by at least 50%, by 30th May 2021 (vs. 2018/19 baseline)
  • Donate at least 1% of business revenue to environmental charities
  • Invest at least 1% of “cash in bank and in hand”, in a Kiva micro-loan portfolio
  • Be good neighbours, be truthful, practice kindness and positivity
  • Create an overwhelming Ripple Effect by helping our clients to position for the future, not the past
  • “Move the World to Act Sustainably”

Enhancing Biodiversity

By maintaining key partnerships with;

1% for the planet

We are proud members of 1% for the Planet and donate at least 1% of our revenue to environmental causes. 1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses, individuals and non-profit organisations tackling our planet’s most pressing environmental issues

One Tree Planted

We have partnered with One Tree Planted to plant at least 13 trees for every £1,000 of revenue. The trees we plant clean our air and water and help regulate our climate. They provide important habitat for wildlife, provide economic outcomes and improve our overall health

The Sloth Institute Costa Rica

We support the work of The Sloth Institute, Costa Rica, by adopting orphaned, abandoned, abused and injured sloths.

SAS 250 club

We help protect the UK’s unique coastal environment as members of Surfers Against Sewage 250 Club. Our membership helps fund education programmes, beach cleans, and campaigns to protect the marine environment, especially from the current plastic pollution crisis.

River of Flowers

We are committed to supporting River of Flowers by developing “rivers” of wild flowers and wild flowering trees in urban areas to feed, shelter, protect and heal bees and other pollinators.

Business Declares

Act Sustainably is proud to be joining Business Declares and the fast-growing network of businesses who acknowledge the Climate and Ecological Emergency. We are in the business of acting sustainably and helping others on this journey. Concern for both people and the planet are not new to us and we look forward to continuing to share our journey and ensuring our voice is part of the collective, resounding call for change. We are certainly not claiming to be perfect, neither are we judging others, instead we are part of a coalition of the willing looking to collaborate and accelerate action while continuing to highlight the challenges and uncomfortable truths.

Project Seagrass

We are sponsors of Seagrass Ocean Rescue which plans to restore seagrass in a small experimental two hectare area (approximately two rugby pitches) in collaboration with local people in Dale in West Wales.

Over the coming years they also aim to inspire future major projects in other areas to restore the UK’s seagrass meadows to help support our climate, our fisheries and our coastal livelihoods.

This project builds on research led by Swansea University in Wales that has been inspired by the achievements of successful restoration globally.

Through education, influence, research and action, we are on a mission to save seagrass!

Sumatran Orangutan Society

Our most recent partnership is with the Sumatran Orangutan Society, SOS which was founded in 2001 by Lucy Wisdom in order to realise her vision of a safe future for wild orangutans and their forest home.

Sumatran orangutans are critically endangered and without urgent action could be the first Great Ape species to become extinct.

SOS is dedicated to turning this situation around.

Act Sustainably are delighted to be able help them, thanks to our lovely, loyal customers.

Kiva Microloan portfolio

Our latest innovation is to change lives by making micro-loans to entrepreneurs in developing countries.

Act Sustainably invests at least 1% of our average “cash in bank” balance in our micro-loan portfolio which is currently invested in nineteen projects in thirteen countries including Cambodia, Kenya, Mali, Moldova, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Samoa, Palestine, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Solomon Islands, Nicaragua and Madagascar.
